Hollywood, CA. I’m so excited to be staying with The Groundlings Sunday Company for another six months. The last six months flew by. Mostly, I just feel lucky to be here. I’m excited to keep learning, keep writing, and keep making people laugh.
What I’ll probably remember most from my first six months are the people. I was lucky enough to be surrounded by some unbelievably funny, creative, and supportive writers and performers. Watching them work made me better, and I learned something from every person in the cast. I really hope I get to keep creating with a lot of them long after Sunday Company.
I’m looking forward to getting to know new members joining us this term. One thing I’ve realized is that there are just so many funny people at The Groundlings. Every class, every show, every cast introduces you to someone who sees comedy differently than you, and I love that. It will be nice to get to know the new Sunday Company members, write with them, perform with them, and see what we all come up with together over the next six months.
Every week we write, rehearse, and perform a completely new sketch show. It’s a crazy process. You pitch ideas, write sketches, play a bunch of different characters, rewrite everything, cut half of it, and then turn around and do it all again the next week. It’s challenging, but it’s also some of the most fun I’ve ever had.
