Passed Top Tier Groundlings ‘Writing Lab’ Course

Hollywood, CA. Happy to announce, I passed Writing Lab! It’s the fifth level of training I’ve passed at the Groundlings. In Writing Lab, we developed characters and created scripted scenes. Our final showcase was on the Groundlings’ legendary Mainstage on October 30th.

Here’s a video of the performance of our Groundlings ‘Writing Lab’ class which was directed by Roy Jenkins.

My sketches can be seen at the following timecodes: 18:31, 37:56, 55:19, and 1:15:34

A few snapshot/screenshots from the performance…

Next up for me will be Writing Lab 2, so my journey continues. My teacher was Roy Jenkins, who is without a doubt, one of the funniest people I’ve ever met. Every Wednesday he performs in the “Crazy Uncle Joe Show” on the Groundlings stage. We’ve also performed together in a local improv troupe and filmed some comedy material together.

I’m very happy to be moving up!

Info from the Groundlings website about the organization:

The Groundlings is an L.A. improvisation and sketch comedy destination of over 45 years, where we leave everything at the door, welcome and arrive from all walks of life, in hopes to instill a brave uncensored practice of examining and reflecting flawed/shocking/absurd human culture using the cure-all spoonful of sugar: LAUGHTER. Groundlings comedians drive a vehicle for human emotional processing and our brand of comedy is a language in which opposing communities establish a dialogue through a mutual decision to come unarmed. We are also the foremost comedy training ground in Hollywood and a springboard for countless careers.*

*Like whose? Well, we hate to name-drop, but since you asked… Our alumni include Melissa McCarthy, Will Ferrell, Kristen Wiig, Phil Hartman, Lisa Kudrow, Paul Reubens, Cheryl Hines, Jon Lovitz, Laraine Newman, Will Forte, Maya Rudolph, Michael McDonald, Wendi McClendon-Covey, Heidi Gardner, Jennifer Coolidge, Kathy Griffin, Phil LaMarr, Cheri Oteri, Julia Sweeney, Mikey Day, Chris Parnell… just to name twenty.

She has more than a dozen film and video credits, including clinging to life as OD Girl #2 in On Call (Amazon Prime), and she’s also part of an upcoming project with Trey Parker and Matt Stone. An experienced stage actor, she's had lead roles in notable productions. Her commercial credits include Airheads, Dave & Buster’s, Sonic (the drive-thru, not the hedgehog), Ring, and Visa—so odds are you’ve skipped her on YouTube.
